Dennis Bermudez Is Focused on Beating Rony Jason
Dennis Bermudez spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Rony Jason at UFC Fight Night 92. Some highlights are below:
On bouncing back from his losses: “In the UFC and in this sport, you lose three or four, and it’s, ‘See you later.’ It was important that I kind of reset myself and like, ‘Alright, let me do what I do and not worry about losing.’ So now you’re going to see the old ‘Menace’ is back. I’m not worried about a streak and stuff like that. I’m worried about winning and the next win. Right now, the task at hand is beating Rony Jason. So, after that, we’ll put our target on the next guy. But I think after beating Rony Jason, a top-three, a top-five guy – and a win over him puts me right there for a title shot.”
On setbacks in MMA: “I was talking to Daniel Cormier in an interview last night. He said, ‘Been there, done that, and got the T-shirt. It’s part of being a champion.’”
On Jason: “(Jason is) definitely a worthy opponent. He won ‘The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.’ The guy is super tough. He’s always looking for highlight-reel fights. He’s got knockouts. He’s got submissions. The guy’s a goer, but I think I’m on a different tier than him…I’m looking for a lopsided fight; I’m looking more for the Performance of the Night bonus.”
