Dhiego Lima Says Nothing Can Stop Him Now

June 9, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Dhiego Lima (11-4) spoke about his desire to return to the UFC. He is currently competing for Titan FC. He will fight David Michaud (9-2) at Titan FC 39, which happens at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Florida tomorrow. It streams on UFC Fight Pass.

On the benefit of fighting for Titan FC: “Titan is on UFC Fight Pass, so it is the best path back to the UFC. I think about that every day. I have a very bad taste in my mouth, from the fact that I didn’t fight the way I normally do in the UFC. I didn’t do anything that I train in any of my four UFC fights. I have to make my way back for my own sake. A lot of people speak poorly of me. They say I have no chin and that I accomplished nothing in the UFC. So I have a bad taste in my mouth. Every day I think about coming back. I have to come back. ”

On fighting Michaud: “David is also very tough. He’s experienced and also a UFC veteran. I had already studied him when getting ready to face Jingliang Li. I’d watched their fight several times. I’m already familiar with his game. He’s a complete fighter. He has good standup and wrestling; let’s see what happens. I’m very ready. I’m training every facet for this fight. If we stand up, I’m longer than him. I believe I’ll also come in much heavier. I’ll put pressure on him. I have to finish him. The UFC said they’re coming back to Atlanta, where I live, on July 30. I have to finish this guy. I have to show the UFC who I really am. This time, I’ll throw caution to the win. We’re going to bang it out, I’ll wrestle him – I’ll do everything in my power to get a finish. David is tough but I’m in the best shape of my life.”

On a possible belt in Titan: “I signed with Titan. If I stick around, the Titan belt is in my future. It’s been announced that if I win this fight, the belt is next. If the UFC doesn’t call, I’ll be fighting for the Titan belt. Their champion is very good but I also see a lot of holes in his game. No one can stop me now.”
