Diego Ferreira Explains Why He Took UFC 231 Fight On Two Days Notice

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Diego Ferreira explained why he decided to take a fight with Kyle Nelson at UFC 231 on only two days notice. Here are highlights:

On why he didn’t back out of the event: “I promised my son to get him in Brazil, and that’s why I want this fight. Another one is because I’ve worked so hard. Two years, I’ve been waiting for this, and now I can’t let this chance go through my fingers. I need to fight. The last two years, that’s what I’ve been thinking about.”

On taking the fight on short notice: “My coach and I discussed it a little bit. He said, ‘Is something bothering you?’ And I said, ‘I don’t really care who it’s going to be. I just want to step in.”
