Fabricio Werdum, Edmund Tarverdyan Get Verbal Warning For UFC 203 Altercation
Fabricio Werdum and Edmund Tarverdyan received a verbal warning for their altercation at UFC 203. Ohio Athletic Commission director Bernie Profato told MMAjunkie that he chose to give the two a verbal warning for the incident, which saw Werdum front-kick Tarverdyan.
“Being a former cop, you sometimes find you did better giving them a break,” Profato told the site. He added that both were apologetic over the incident, saying, “I shook hands with them and said, ‘This is (expletive) guy, this is TV. I’ve got your names–- if I think something’s going wrong in the future, you will not be able to work the corner. If I hear of any actions against you, I won’t license you.”
Werdum said afterward that he acted in response to Tarverdyan coming up to him and aggressively telling him to “shut your mouth” alongside several expletives.
