Garreth McLellan spoke with MMAjunkie about his fight with Magnus Cedenblad at UFC Fight Night 87. Some highlights are below:

On being the underdog: “(South Africa is) a small country, we haven’t had a lot of exposure, and I think people are going to dismiss us. That’s fine with me. I don’t mind being the underdog, and I don’t mind coming out of the dark. That makes me even more dangerous, and if you think I don’t have the skill set, then you’re in for a very big surprise.”

On Cedenblad havig a long layoff: “(It’s) a long time to be out of the cage; it definitely brings in that octagon rust. It’s something that’s very real. It’s not a myth. He’s got to deal with those kind of things.”

On Cedenblad: “He’s got the confidence in that he’s won fights in the UFC. He knows how to win in there, so that makes him even more dangerous.”

On his plan to finish the fight: “If you go back at my record, I only have two decisions. The rest of them have been finishes. I know how to finish, that’s part of my game, and I’m always looking for that. If you think it’s going to be an easy night and you’re just going to come steamroll over me, I’ve got another thing coming for you. I often say a lot of people don’t realize I’m not like anybody anybody’s ever fought. I bring a different dynamic. I know how to find the win and look for things and open holes.”
