John McCarthy Discusses The Finish To Ricky Simon vs. Merab Dvalishvili At UFC Fight Night 128

At UFC Fight Night 128 this past weekend, it was ruled that Ricky Simon defeated Merab Dvalishvili via TKO in the third round, after it was initially ruled Simon won by judges’ decision. The ruling stated that Merab passed out in the hold. John McCarthy explained the ruling in a series of posts on Twitter. He wrote:

At the 56 sec mark the fighter is knocked silly if not out by his own takedown. That is why Simon moves to mount and the neck crank so easily. At the end the fighter is out for a second therefore he has been submitted and loses as such. It should never be ruled as a TKO #AskBJM https://t.co/6rOLeSBSn7
