Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Father Passes Away Due to COVID-19 Complications
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has lost his father to complications from COVID-19. MMA journalist Chisanga Malata has reported that Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passed away at the age of 57.
Abdulmanap was hospitalized back in April in Dagestan and was eventually flown to a military hospital in Moscow per MMA Weekly. He tested positive for COVID-19 there and suffered a heart attack in May brought on by the virus. He was placed into a medically induced coma and reportedly passed away due to brain injuries caused by a stroke that stemmed from complications.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov served as his son’s coach throughout his MMA career and was in his corner for his win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242.
