Levan Makashvili Is Not Happy With His Draw Against Damon Jackson

January 31, 2016 | Posted by Jeffrey Harris

Speaking to reporters in a media scrum after UFC on FOX 18 (via MMAjunkie), UFC fighter Levan Makashvili talked about his draw with Damon Jackson. Makashvili lost a point in the third rount after inadvertently poking Jackson in the eye and then an illegal knee to the head. This caused the fight to be scored a majority draw. Below are some highlights from the scrum.

Makashvili on getting a draw: “I wasn’t happy with the outcome. I won every round anyway. The second round, I got a takedown and landed a lot of punches. It’s just bad judging. It would have been a draw in the last round even still. Bad judging – it’s just insane.”

Makashvili on the point deduction: “It doesn’t make sense. The guy couldn’t do anything to me. My face is clean. The other guy’s isn’t.”

Makashvili on why he lost a point: “It’s probably because of the knee. Then once the eye poke was called, whether he saw it, or whether I did it – I believe I didn’t – the ref had to do something. It’s his job. Even if I did and I deserved that point to be taken away, it doesn’t mathematically add up. He couldn’t beat me in any of the rounds.”
