NSAC to File Complaint Against Khabib Nurmagomedov Following UFC 229

The NSAC is set to hold a “comprehensive investigation” into Khabib Nurmagomedov’s actions during the brawl that marred the main event of UFC 229. Nevada State Athletic Commission head Bob Bennett told MMAjunkie that a complaint will be filed against Khabib Nurmagomedov, who leapt the cage after his win over Conor McGregor and attacked McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis. In addition, three of Nurmagomedov’s teammates got into the cage and fought with McGregor.

Bennett said that the NSAC is withholding Nurmagomedov’s $2 million purse and is looking into the situation, having collected footage of the event from both the UFC and other sources so that they can review the entire situation. Complaints will be sent to the state attorney general’s office, after which a hearing will be held. The commission could potentially fine and suspend Nurmagomedov, as well as order community service.

Bennett said of the match itself, “From an officiating perspective, at risk of sounding immodest, we had an outstanding night. Fortunately, this fight was watched worldwide. Unfortuntely, this incident took place, and now we have to conduct a comprehensive investigation and present the facts fairly and honestly.”
