Royce Gracie Didn’t Ask For Fight With Ken Shamrock

February 17, 2016 | Posted by Joseph Lee

In an interview with MMA Junkie, Royce Gracie (14-2-3 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) responded to the claims of Ken Shamrock (28-16-2 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) about who wanted their fight at Bellator 149. After Shamrock lost to Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson at Bellator 138 in June 2015, he said Gracie contacted Bellator President Scott Coker asking for a fight with Shamrock. The two fought at UFC 1, where Gracie won by submission. They fought later at UFC 5 to a draw.

Gracie said: “I didn’t ask for the fight. Ask Scott Coker who asked for the fight. So (Shamrock) doesn’t just talk too much, but he lies too.

Meanwhile, he also said he’s not worried about this being his first fight since 2007. He added: “I’m at home. I’m ready to do it today. I was ready to do it when we signed, when we announced it.

Bellator 149 happens on Friday from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
