Sam Sicilia Would Love to Face Dennis Siver Next
Sam Sicilia spoke with MMAjunkie about his next fight and more. You can see some excerpts below:
On a fight with Dennis Siver: “I would love that fight. I have always wanted it. I feel like it’s appropriate right now. Nothing against him personally, but I’ve always just watched him fight and gone, ‘Oh, come on. Give me that guy. I would love it.’”
On his loss to Doo Ho Choi at UFC Fight Night 79: “It was kind of a frustrating fight. I admit that I wanted to knock him out, and he threw straight punches and caught me. I ended up firing off of instincts instead of – the plan was I was going wrestle him a little bit, grapple him, at least stay in the clinch with him for a while, but it didn’t go that way. That accurate little bastard clipped me.”
On the layoff since the loss: “Walking around with a loss for six months is a terrible feeling. But I’m not wasting it. I know I have a lot of things to improve on – skillset stuff.”
On when his next fight may be: “I’m going to have a busy end of the year is what it’s looking like. Talking to Sean, he pretty much said, ‘Don’t get fat and don’t get hurt,’ so I think I’m up next. It has been really frustrating, but I’m making good use of the time.”
On Siver: “He’s beat some good guys. I’m not saying that he’s a slouch, but I would love to get in the cage with that guy. It’s just something that I’ve had my eye on forever.”
