Sara McMann Not Happy She May Not Get Rematches With Tate Or Rousey
In an interview with MMA Junkie, Sara McMann (10-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) spoke about the possibility of not getting rematches with Miesha Tate or Ronda Rousey. Tate is retired and Rousey’s status is currently up in the air. Rousey beat her by TKO in 66 seconds at 170 in February 2014 while Tate beat her by majority decision at UFC 183 in January 2015. McMann will fight Gina Mazany (4-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) tonight at UFC Fight Night 105. Here are highlights:
On not getting her rematches: “(Ronda) and Miesha are not fighting – it makes me sad. I’m like, ‘No, just one more (fight).’ But that’s MMA. In wrestling, I would have gotten several opportunities to compete against them. In MMA, sometimes you just get once and you have to live with that.”
On beating fighters who previously beat her: “It definitely does move me closer (to the title). But I would rather fight them even if I was lower ranked.”
On who she wants to fight next: “Definitely (I want to rematch Nunes). But if I have to fight Shevchenko, and she’s the one who is there, then I’m fine with that too.”
