UPDATED: UFC to Reschedule UFC Fight Night 97 Event Due to BJ Penn Injury

UPDATE: According to Jeremy Botter of FloSports, there is more to the event being “rescheduled” than just the Penn injury. Botter reports that all UFC employees attending were to be drug tested, and that failures for anything would see the government would seize their passports…

ORIGINAL: Following an injury to BJ Penn, the UFC as announced today that they are rescheduling the October 15th UFC Fight Night 97 event. The show was set to take place in Manila, Philippines, and will be moved to 2017 due to the 2016 schedule being complete.

The fighters set to compete on that show will be rebooked at upcoming UFC events in the near future. They will also receive compensation due to the card being rescheduled. Here was the card for the show…
