It was more of the same at the top of the box office this weekend as Uncharted had a solid hold to reign for a second frame. The Tom Holland-fronted video game adaptation brought in $23.3 million for the weekend, down just 47% from its big opening take. That number is good for action and video game films as a whole, but it’s particularly good considering that last weekend’s $51.3 million start was already an overperformance.

The key with this film is simple: critics may not have loved it, but audiences do. The B+ CinemaScore from last weekend is pretty good for an action franchise and that is helping to guide this Naughty Dog adaptation to the black for Sony. The film has now brought in $83.4 million domestically and a very good $226.4 million worldwide. Uncharted was an expensive film, with a $120 million production budget plus marketing. That said, it is poised to become quite the hit with a $125 million domestic total entirely possible.

Dog also had a good hold in its second weekend, as the Channing Tatum vehicle was down just 32% to $10.1 million. That’s damned good for a fairly low-budgeted film, which is already well on the way to profit (if not already there). The road top dramedy now stands at $30.9 million domestically and $32.4 million worldwide, and is looking to finish off with at least $50 million by the end of its run to notch a success for United Artists.

Coming in at #3 in its 11th weekend is Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is continuing to barrel through milestones. The Sony/MCU film took in $5.8 million, a slip of just 23% from last weekend, and is now up to $779.9 million domestically and $1.863 billion worldwide. It will easily top $790 million by Monday and is on course for a potential $800 million in the US. Even on its $200 million budget, this is a huge hit.

Death On the Nile was off 31% in its third weekend, scoring another $4.5 million to bring its totals to $32.8 million domestically and $101.3 million worldwide. The film is still looking like a money loser due to the $90 million budget and should end its run stateside at around $43 million.

Jackass Forever brought in $3.2 million through , down 39% from the last weekend’s tally. The comedy is now at $52.1 million domestically and $68.1 million worldwide, making it quite the hit for Paramount against a budget of $10 million. The film should close out with about $60 million by the end of its domestic box office run.

Sing 2 eased down 26% in its 10 weekend to $2.1 million. The animated sequel stands at $151.2 million domestically and $351.5 million worldwide and should be able to end its run at around $158 million in the US. The budget was $85 million.

Marry Me dropped another 50% in its third weekend with $1.9 million. The Jennifer Lopez/Owen Wilson romcom has grossed $20.2 million in the US and $43.9 million worldwide, and can probably count more revenue due to its simultaneous streaming release on Peacock. The film is heading toward some profit considering the $24 million budget and should finish out at around $25 million domestically.

It was a scant weekend for new releases, with only Studio 666 opening wide. The Foo Fighters-starring film grossed $1.6 million, a bit below the expected $2 million take. This film was a low-profile release targeted at the band’s fans and the niche audience of horror comedy fans, and failed to pick up much buzz with a 57% aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience reaction has been better; there was no CinemaScore but the RT audience score is 83%. There’s been no word on the budget, but films like this tend to fade away quickly so $5 million is probably its upper limit.

Cyrano opened in 797 theaters through United Artists and had a mild start with $1.4 million. The Peter Dinklage-starring musical adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac has been a hit with critics and was banking on some Oscar buzz, but it was largely shut out of the nominations. The film has added $1 million overseas for $2.4 million total, and this will be a money loser considering the $30 million budget.

Scream closed out the top 10 with $1.3 million in its sixth weekend, down 31%. The slasher sequel is a big money maker with $79.2 million domestically and $137.6 million globally against a budget of just $24 million. The movie should close at around $82 million domestically.

Uncharted will make way for a new box office king next weekend as The Batman swoops into theater.s The highly-anticipated DC movie is expected to gross well over $100 million, potentially as high as $130 million. It’s the only wide release next weekend.
