Bryan Kristopowitz: How did you get involved with Forbidden Power?
Nasanin Nuri: I was contacted by the producers, who saw my work online.
BK: How did you approach your character Veronica? Is it fair to call her a seductress?
NN: Hahaha… I think my ex-boyfriends would say I was not playing a character, but myself, I am exactly like Veronica! Just joking. I think Veronica was always somehow inside of me and I drew from there. I also believe that it was my typecast. Oh yeah, Veronica is a seductress. She knows the game and she knows how to play it, and that shows in her skills in chess as a child. She knows how to seduce, how to manipulate, and her knowing exactly what she wants and not being afraid to ask for it, drives the men nuts.
BK: Is Veronica an alien?
NN: Yes, she is.
BK: What was it like working with director Paul Kyriazi?
NN: I love Paul. He has a vision and he goes for it. He knows exactly what it needs. He is very easy going, caring, and so patient. Always understanding, open for questions and suggestions, and always giving feedback. He is so positive and supportive and he roots for you. I loved working with him. It was a pleasure.
BK: What was the hardest part of working on Forbidden Power for you? The easiest?
NN: You know the longer we filmed the more the character started to sink in, so with that said, I think it was challenging in the first bit to find the right balance between being sweet and seductive, but on the inside feeling nothing. That “no feeling under the surface” was challenging. Veronica does not register emotions the way I do. The easiest part I would say was kissing George… hahaha… just joking.
BK: Did you ever get to meet the young actress that played Veronica as a child, Kaiya Gray?
NN: No, I did not, unfortunately. But my co-star Lincoln Bevers (George) face timed me the day they were shooting with her, and he was like: “Nasanin, I have a little surprise for you, look who I have here!” She is so sweet, I wish I had met her, hugged her! Got her a teddy!
BK: How did you get involved in acting? Is it something that you always wanted to do or is it something that became an interest later in life?
NN: I mean, I started as a model, was in a beauty pageant, was a TV host. I always had ideas of going into acting, but not really until later. I also just didn’t want to start acting because it was the next thing to do. I went to acting school, and for the first 3 months of the program I thought they were going to kick me out, I was so bad.
BK: Have you ever gone to a convention in real life and met someone really special?
NN: Oh my God, actually, yes! I did work as a model at a convention. Back then there was this very popular TV show in Germany, about magicians, and I had this big crush on this one magician called Farid. I would watch every episode because of him. And at that convention I was standing there as a model standing next to the car so people could take pictures of me with the car. And there he was, my magician celebrity crush. He came straight up to me and did a magic trick for me in front of everyone. It was so exciting and romantic and everyone surrounded us, taking pictures and videos while he was doing a magic trick. I was about to faint, it was such a coincidence and so super special.
BK: If and when there’s ever a Forbidden Power 2, would you want to participate? And if you had the “Forbidden Power” in real life what would you do with it?
NN: Yes, definitely. It would be an honor and working with the crew again, it would make my year! It would be so amazing and interesting. I think also as an actor I could contribute much more to it, now that we have done part 1, part 2 could only get better! :o)
