It looks like Reacher star Alan Ritchson is going to be suiting up to fight for Super Earth and Managed Democracy. Per The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game series.

Ritchson will replace Jason Momoa, who was previously attached to star in the feature for director Justin Lin. The movie is currently targeted for a November 2027 release. Momoa left the project earlier this year over reported “creative differences.” Sony reportedly had no comment on the Ritchson casting news.

Helldivers 2 became a breakout hit after it was released in 2024. It has since sold more than 20 million copies worldwide and is estimated to have generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.

The games, developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, follow an elite squad of shock troops who defend the planet of Super Earth from alien threats. The movie adaptation hails from PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures.

Lin directs the feature from an initial draft by Gary Dauberman (IT, Annabelle). Lin is also producing the feature with Hutch Parker and Asad Qizilbas.

Alan Ritchson is best known for his starring role in the action-thriller series Reacher on Prime Video. The show is one of Prime’s most popular series, and it was recently renewed for a fifth season. Ritchson also appears in a guest-starring capacity in the newly released Reacher spin-off, Neagley, which debuted earlier this week.

Some of Ritchson’s recent film roles include Fast X, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Motor City, and War Machine. He’s currently working on Reacher Season 5, which started production in July in Canada.

Helldivers is currently scheduled to drop in theaters on November 10, 2027.
