Alexander Ludwig On The ‘Steep’ Learning Curve For Heels, Past Work With Edge & The Rock
Heels season two premieres later this month, and star Alexander Ludwig recently discussed the learning curve for the wrestling and more. Ludwig did a media call to promote the season season’s July 28th premiere and a couple highlights are below, courtesy of Wrestling Inc:
On his past work with wrestling stars: “I’ve had the opportunity to work with some great wrestlers over my career. Adam Copeland, who’s Edge who was on Vikings, and Dwayne Johnson — we worked together when I was 16 and we still keep in touch. And I remember the stories he used to tell me about what would happen behind the scenes and how crazy it was when things you have planned don’t go as planned in the ring, and it’s life. To me, that was always really, really exciting.”
On learning the wrestling aspects of the role: “It was a very steep, steep learning experience for me. Fortunately, we have an incredible stunt team, and incredible pro wrestlers behind us, but you can’t really fake this. There’s certain stunts, where producers obviously don’t want you to do [them], because they don’t want you to get injured, but when you’re wrestling in a ring, there’s only so many positions you can put a camera in. So Steve and I have to do everything ourselves.”
On wrestling training: “I gotta say, this is truly the most pain I’ve ever been in shooting anything, because my body wasn’t used to this… I think [wrestlers are] nuts. I think they’re absolutely crazy. It’s an insane sport and I love every minute of it.”
