Anthony Mackie Closes Deal to Star in Captain America 4
It’s official: Anthony Mackie will be back as the titular star in Marvel’s Captain America 4. Variety reports that Mackie closed his deal to reprise his role as Sam Wilson in the upcoming film, which will be written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier head writer alcolm Spellman as well as the show’s staff writer Dalan Musson.
Mackie’s return was all but assured when he donned the Captain America persona t the end of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but deals must still be made and films must be greenlit. Those hurdles are now done. No director and no further casting is official for the film. It is not yet clear if Sebastian Stan (Bucky), Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine), or Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter) will be involved.
The film has not been officially announced, but given Marvel’s film slate it won’t be coming this year or next.
