Apple TV+ Officially Renews Ted Lasso For Season Four

Ted Lasso is back, with Apple TV+ officially renewing the hit comedy for a fourth season. As THR notes, the streamer has ordered a fourth season of the Emmy-winning comedy, ending months of speculation about whether it would come back.
The renewal comes after speculation about the show’s return kicked up a notch back in August when Warner Bros. TV picked up the options for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift. Co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis has closed a deal to return as the titular character.
Sudeikis revealed on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast that the new season will see Ted coaching a women’s team, as teased in the season three finale in May of 2023. Sudeikis noted that writers have started work on the new season, and THR says that production could kick off in the summer.
“Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief,” Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said in a statement announcing the news. “Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”
Ted Lasso has been a huge hit for Apple TV+ and WBTV, helping add credibility to the streaming service and earning 13 Emmy wins through its three seasons including two for Outstanding Comedy Series and two each for for Sudeikis and Goldstein (in Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Supporting Actor), plus one for Waddingham in Outstanding Supporting Actress.
