Aquaman 2 Gets Screenwriter in David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick
The Wrap reports that writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has signed on to write the planned sequel for Aquaman. Johnson-McGoldrick was a co-writer for the first film, and he’s been a longtime collaborator with Aquaman director James Wan, working with him on The Conjuring 2.
The first film was also co-written by Will Beall, Geoff Johns, and James Wan. Wan and Peter Safran are already attached to produce the sequel. The first film has currently grossed $1.12 billion worldwide. It’s the first billion-dollar hit for Warner Bros. since The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.
As previously reported, Warner Bros. is developing a horror-themed spinoff for Aquaman called The Trench. It’s being written by Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald.
Johnson-McGoldrick is also attached to write The Conjuring 3. His other writing credits include Orphan, Wrath of the Titans, and Red Riding Hood.
