Dan Aykroyd Says The Original Ghostbusters Cast Has Filmed Their Part In New Film

Dan Aykroyd has confirmed that the original Ghostbusters cast has completed filming their part of the upcoming Jason Reitman-directed revival. Aykroyd appeared on the Greg Hill Show and talked about the film, noting that he, Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts have completed their filming.

“Jason Reitman wrote a beautiful, heartfelt script that takes the DNA from the first two movies and hands the legacy off to a new generation of stars and characters,” Aykroyd said per Bloody Disgusting) “And we’ve shot our part – myself, [Bill] Murray, Sigourney [Weaver], and Annie Potts. It was really exciting working on this new idea.”

He continued, “It’s gonna be scary, it’s gonna be thought-provoking, it’s gonna be heartfelt. We’ll recognize [the late Harold Ramis] in this film in some way.”

The new film will star Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon, Oliver Cooper, Celeste O’Connor and Logan Kim and centers on a family that moves back home to a small town where they learn more about who they are. The film will also feature Ernie Hudson returning and opens on July 10th, 2020.
