MSN.com that The Weinstein Company’s board of directors “unanimously voted to terminate” company president and chief operating officer David Glasser. He was reportedly fired “for cause” according to a statement by the film studio released this week.

The news comes after New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman filed a lawsuit against the studio over “egregious violations of New York’s civil rights, human rights, and business laws.” Besides co-founders Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Schneiderman also named Glasser in a news conference after the legal complaint was filed.

Schneiderman previously stated, “The COO David Glasser, who supervised the human resources department, did not stop this discrimination, harassment and abuse, even though he was in charge of handling dozens of shocking complaints.”

The company has recently been struggling to stay afloat after numerous sexual assault and misconduct allegations surfaced against Harvey Weinstein. Weinstein is reportedly undergoing treatment at an Arizona rehab facility, and he has reportedly denied any accusation of nonconsensual sex.

Additionally, The Weinstein Company was recently in talks to sell the company to a group of investors that are being led by a former President Barack Obama administration official, Maria Contreras-Sweet. However, the lawsuit by Schneiderman put those negotiations on hold.
