Eddie Murphy Wins First Primetime Emmy For Hosting Saturday Night Live

Eddie Murphy has finally hooked his first Primetime Emmy Award, capturing a win for hosting Saturday Night Live. The TV Academy announced that Murphy won the Emmy Award for Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his hosting gig on the December 21st, 2019 episode.

The win gives Murphy his first Emmy after having four previous nominations. He was nominated in 1983 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for SNL and earned two nominations in 1984 for the show: Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program and Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. He was also nominated for Outstanding Animated Program in 1999 for The PJs: He’s Gotta Have It.
