Ethan Hawke Reveals How He Turned Down Independence Day

Ethan Hawke was a guest on last night’s episode of Conan, where he revealed that he was almost cast in Independence Day before he turned it down. He said that he did so by taking the script and throwing it out of his car window while driving down a Texas highway.

He said: “I’m such a big shot, I think I’m so cool.”

He added that he eventually saw the film with his girlfriend at the time and saw Will Smith give a line that he initially thought was stupid and do a good job.
