The first casting announcements have been made for the sixth Scream, and they’re all returnees from the most recent entry. Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures announced on Tuesday that Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega are all signed on to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel.

The foursome played the new survivors from 2022’s Scream, with Barrera and Ortega playing sisters Sam and Tara, the former of whom is the daughter of original Scream killer Billy Loomis. Brown and Gooding played the roles of Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin, the niece and nephew to the late Randy Meeks who died in Scream 2. There is no word yet on the possibility of Neve Campbell or Courteney Cox reprising their roles as Sidney and Gale.

In addition, the announcement gave the first heads up of what to expect in the new film. The early synopsis notes that the franchise will once again leave Woodsboro, reading:

The Scream saga continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.

The new film will again be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from a script by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick. Production is set to begin early in the summer with a March 31st, 2023 release date set. The new film comes off the box office success of Scream, which grossed $81.6 million domestically and $138.9 million worldwide against a budget of just $24 million.
