George Eads Quits CBS’ MacGyver Reboot
According to The Hollywood Reporter, George Eads has quit CBS’ reboot of MacGyver, which is currently in the middle of its third season. Eads had an altercation on the Atlanta set back in October and stormed off. His final episode will air some time in 2019 and his character will be written out. He announced his plans to leave to showrunner Peter Lenkov, and producer agreed to let him out of his contract. He plays MacGyver’s partner and Army buddy Jack Dalton on the show, getting second-billing to Lucas Till. He was the first actor cast in the reboot. Eads reportedly wanted to leave the show to spend more time with his daughter in Los Angeles.
Eads previously quit another CBS show, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after its fifteenth season. He was one of that show’s original stars and had a fight with one of the show’s pregnant writers. He was said to be unhappy with the creative direction of his character. When showrunner Carol Mendelsohn learned of the incident, she had a meeting with Eads where he threatened to quit. After a temporary suspension, he returned and stayed until season fifteen.
