Harvey Weinstein’s Lawyers Say New Witness Prove Accuser is Lying

Harvey Weinstein’s defense team has filed a new motion in his rape case claiming that a new witness proves one of his accusers is lying. TMZ reports that Weinstein’s lawyers filed documents claiming that the witness, a close friend of the accuser, says the accuser was “hooking up” with Weinstein for “a very long time” and never said anything bad to her about the mogul, instead speaking highly of him.

The witness claims that she saw Weinstein and the accuser hanging out in social occasions, including events after he allegedly raped her. The lawyers claim that the witness told detectives that she was approached by the accuser and asked to support her allegations, but refused to do so.

Weinstein is on trial for five criminal charges of sexual assault stemming from two accusers.
