HBO Pushes It Prequel Series Welcome to Derry To 2025
HBO will be jumping into the past of the It films a bit later, as they’ve delayed the prequel series Welcome to Derry back to 2025. The series, which will go back into the past of the setting established in the Andy Muschietti films, was originally scheduled next Halloween. However, Bloody Disgusting reports that HBO head Casey Bloys announced during the press event on Thursday morning that the show will likely be delayed to the following year.
The prequel series has Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti attached as well as Jason Fuchs. Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Madeleine Stowe and Stephen Rider will star in the series, which will begin in the 1960s and the events leading up to It: Chapter One. It is also said to include the origins of Pennywise.
Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane will serve as co-showrunners.
