CinemaCon: Live Action How To Train Your Dragon 2 Set For Summer 2027 Premiere

Universal Pictures has announced a sequel to this year’s live-action How To Train Your Dragon, with the follow-up set to arrive in 2027. Per 411’s Jeffrey Harris, the studio announced at CinemaCon that How To Train Your Dragon 2 will release on June 11th, 2027.
Dean DeBlois will be back to direct and Mason Thames & Nico Parker will return as as Hiccup and Astrid. DeBlois wrote and directed the first live-action film, which is set to arrive on June 13th. He also co-directed the original 2010 animated feature, along with its two sequels, released in 2014 and 2019.
Plot details are not clear for the new sequel, including whether it will follow the story of the animated How To Train Your Dragon 2. The new live-action How To Train Your Dragon was also screened earlier in the day for attendees at CinemaCon 2025.
