Taika Waititi, best known for his direction and voice acting in Thor: Ragnarok, may be voicing a fan-favorite character in The Mandalorian. Jon Favreau, who is serving as showrunner on the upcoming Disney+ show, shared a picture to Instagram that shows Waititi doing voiceover work in front of a screen featuring the bounty-hunting droid. You can see that post below.

It is worth noting that the post is without comment, so this isn’t an official announcement or confirmation. That said, with the warm reception Waititi earned for his work as Korg in Thor: Ragnarok and his status after the success of the film, so it is certainly not unreasonable that he would be doing more voiceover work for a big-scale Disney project.

The series will Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Omid Abtahi, Werner Herzog and Nick Nolte, and run ten episodes for its first season. The synopsis is as follows:

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”
