Kyle Chandler & Aaron Pierce To Star As Hal Jordan & John Stewart In HBO’s Lanterns

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierce are joining the DC Universe, as they’re set to play Hal Jordan & John Stewart in HBO’s Lanterns series. HBO announced on Wednesday that Chandler (Friday Night Lights, Bloodline) and Pierce (Rebel Ridge) will play the famed members of the Green Lanterns in HBO’s upcoming series.

The series comes from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, with the first two episodes directed by James Hawes. James Gunn previously confirmed that actors will play their roles across films and TV in the DC Universe.

No premiere date is yet set for Lanterns, which is described as follows:

The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Hal Jordan was previously brought to life in live-action by Ryan Reynolds in 2011’s Green Lantern, which was a critical and commercial flop. Lanterns marks Stewart’s first official appearance in live-action form.
