Larry David Says He Was ‘Relieved’ After Being Disinvited From Obama Birthday Party

Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David says he was “relieved” after being disinvited from President Barack Obama’s 60th birthday party, reports the New York Times. David was one of the invited guests who got cut when Obama decided to scale the party back to “only family and close friends.”

Larry David thought he was going to have to perform at the party, and was “trying to think of what routine he could come up with in three days.”

“I was pretty glum when I finally called back his assistant,” David said. “When he told me I was eighty-sixed from the party, I was so relieved, I screamed, ‘Thank you! Thank you!’ He must have thought I was insane. Then I hung up the phone, poured myself a drink, and finished my crossword puzzle.”
