Lionsgate Confirms John Wick 5 Is In Early Development

The John Wick franchise was already set to continue in spinoffs, but now Lionsgate has confirmed that development has begun on a fifth film in the main series. THR reports that during the studios earnings call on Thursday Lionsgate motion picture group chair Joe Drake said that they are in development on three projects in the universe in addition to the 2024 release of Ballerina including a fifth John Wick film and more.

“What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spinoff that comes out next year,” Drake said. “We’re in development on three others, including [John Wick 5] and including the television series, The Continental, which will be airing soon.”

He added, “We’re building out the world and when that five movie comes, it will be organic — will be organically grown out of how we’re starting to tell those stories. But you can rely on a regular cadence of John Wick.”

John Wick: Chapter 4 released in March and has been the biggest grosser in the franchise to date with $185.9 million domestically thus far and $427.6 million worldwide.
