Maisie Williams On New Mutants: ‘Who Knows When That’s Gonna Come Out’
If you’re curious about the status of Fox’s New Mutants, don’t ask Maisie Williams because she’s in the dark too. During a piece published on Williams and her Game of Thrones co-star Sophie Turner by >Rolling stone, Williams was asked about the status of Josh Boone’s X-Men-set horror film and as the article notes, she “doesn’t mince words.”
“Who knows when the f**k that’s gonna come out,” Williams, who plays Wolfsbane in the film, told the site. She added that she saw co-star Charlie Heaton (Cannonball) recently and when she asked, “What the f**k is going on with this movie?,” he didn’t know either. Williams added, “Hopefully this interview will make everyone hurry up a little bit!”
New Mutants has been a semi-casualty of the Disney/Fox merger. The heavily-delayed spinoff, which is inspired by and adapted from Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz’s “Demon Bear” arc, was supposed to undergo reshoots to amp up the horror factor last year, but as of earlier this month the reshoots had not been done. A recent report suggested that the film might end up going to the Disney+ service, although right now it is still technically on the schedule for an August 2nd release.
