Matthew Lillard may be unlikely to return for Scream 5 on account of his character being dead, but he’d be down for it if it can happen. Lillard spoke with TooFab for a new interview and was asked about plans for a new film in the franchise.

“Yes, yes, I’m available, yes, yes!” Lillard said when asked if he’d be interested in coming back if offered. “Yes, obviously. That’s like Stacey Abrams openly campaigning for the vice presidency. There’s nobody that wouldn’t want to come back and reprise a role they got to do when they were a boy and be able to do something different as a man would be exciting. You just don’t get that opportunity often.”

Of course, Lillard’s character of Stu Macher died in the first film after being revealed as one of the two killers. He was stabbed and presumabily killed by his co-conspirator Billy Loomis at the end of that film. However, Lillard has previously said that original plans for Scream 3 were to reveal that Stu had survived and was in prison, making him the villain of that film, so there was consideration for him having survived the first film before.

Lillard also noted that he knows that Neve Campbell, who is in talks for the new film, would not do the movie unless it felt right, saying, “I guarantee you Neve is a voracious protector of Wes like nobody else. She won’t do it unless there’s a really clear idea that she’s excited about.”
