New Scream Film Begins Production In May With Ready or Not Directors

Discussing Film reports that a fifth Scream movie will begin production in May, with Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett at the helm. Fellow Radio Silence member Chad Villella will produce with original writer Kevin Williamson. William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein will produce.

It’s unknown if this will be a reboot of the franchise focusing on new characters or if it will connect back to the previous four movies in some way. The plot details, what little there are, say the film will focus on a woman who returns to her hometown to find the culprit behind a ‘series of vicious crimes.’ This comes after Spyglass Media acquired the rights to the series back in September.

The last time Ghostface appeared on the big screen was Scream 4 back in 2011, which featured original stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette returning. Of the three, Arquette has expressed interest in playing Dewey one more time.
