Variety reports that during Paramount’s presentation at Cinemacon yesterday, JJ Abrams revealed that the upcoming R-rated horror film Overlord will not be a Cloverfield sequel. It will, however, be Bad Robot’s first R-rated movie.

The film follows World War II soldiers who find out the Nazis are supernatural forces and conducting horrific experiments.

Abrams said that “we’re actually developing a true, dedicated Cloverfield sequel” and unlike Netflix’s The Cloverfield Paradox, it will go the theaters.

The footage of Overlord featured shots of dead soldiers in trees, genetically modified Nazis, decapitated heads and heads with fangs. The preview also contained Paramount Pictures’ logo from the 1940s. The film will be released on October 26. It stars Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Jacob Anderson, and Pilou Asbaek. Julius Avery is the director and Abrams is the producer.

During the same presentation, Paramount confirmed that there are two Star Trek films in development. Quentin Tarantino and Abrams have been working together on one of them.
