Paramount Moving Forward With A Quiet Place Sequel
With the huge box office success of John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place, it was only a matter of time before a sequel was announced. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Paramount Pictures is indeed moving forward with the sequel. The film has earned $213 million worldwide so far, and $134.8 million in North America. The original was directed and starred John Krasinski, who also wrote the script with Bryan Woods and Scott Beck. When promoting the film, the writers said there was enough material left for a new film. It was produced by Platinum Dunes’ Andrew Form and Brad Fuller.
Paramount chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos said: “If you told me five years ago that an almost silent film starring the very funny guy Jim from The Office would have been a hit at Paramount, I would have said, ‘Well, I should go work at Paramount.’”
The horror film followed a married couple (Krasinski and real-life wife Emily Blunt) and their children, as they have to stay quiet to avoid being killed by monsters attracted to sound. It cost $17 million to make and is already bringing in a huge profit for the studio. It debuted at #1, then took the top spot again this past weekend. A release date has not been named for the sequel. It’s also unknown if Krasinski will be back, as he is currently set to direct the sci-fi thriller Life on Mars for the studio.
