WARNING: Spoilers follow for The Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal).

Up until about last week, the real name for the eponymous antihero of The Mandalorian seemed to be kept a closely-guarded secret. That was up until a recent interview with Pedro Pascal surfaced shortly after the show’s launch on Disney+. Pascal then just casually revealed his character’s name, which you can see below.

The spelling of his name has not yet been clarified by Lucasfilm. However, according to Pedro Pascal, the character’s name sounds like Din Jarryn. For months, fans suspected the character could be Boba Fett from the original and prequel trilogies, despite showrunner and creator Jon Favreau saying this was not the case. This at least furthers the proof that the titular Mandalorian of the series is in fact a completely brand-new character for the Star Wars mythology.

Not much has been revealed yet for Mando’s backstory. The first episode indicated that his clan signet has not yet been revealed, and that he was a “foundling.” His character also had flashbacks suggesting he was a war orphan from The Clone Wars, which destroyed his home. He reports to a superior Mandalorian figure credited only as The Armorer (Emily Swallow).

The first two episodes of The Mandalorian are available now on Disney+. The next episode debuts on Friday, Nov. 22 on Disney+. You can also check out 411’s coverage of The Mandalorian preview event last month RIGHT HERE.

The new Star Wars show, the first live-action episodic Star Wars TV series in history, stars Pedro Pascal, Giancarlo Esposito, Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Carl Weathers, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahi, Taika Waititi, Ming-Na Wen, and Werner Herzog. The story follows a lone bounty hunter (Pascal) in the outer reaches of the galaxy as he sets out to collect a particularly difficult prize. It has already been renewed for a second season.
