Plot Details For The Iron Claw Revealed From Test Screening
A24’s The Iron Claw recently underwent a test screening according to a new report, which reveals some plot details from the film. The WON reports that a test screning of the film was held this week and that one of the attendees revealed some plot points and audience reactions from the film, along with their own thoughts on the movie.
According to the report, the film centers largely on Kevin Von Erich (Zac Efron) as he deals with the ups and downs of the wrestling business, which in the Von Erichs’ case includes the passing of the various members of the family. A few plot points are said to take creative liberties from the real events as is typical of Hollywood biopics, with the film going into Kerry Von Erich training for the 1980 Olympics before the US boycotts the Games that year and Fritz Von Erich pushing him to wrestle. It delves into the teaming of the Von Erichs and Kevin meeting his wife Pam, the deaths of Kevin’s brothers and then eventually his sons joining the industry.
The person providing the details states that the film is generally acted well, though they criticized Holt McCallany as Fritz Von Erich as well as Aaron Dean Eisenburg, who plays Ric Flair. The report notes that Eisenburg’s attempts to do a Flair-like promo drew laughs from the audience. It confirms that MJF plays Lance Von Erich, though it was a small part and he may not have had any lines at all, while Ryan Nemeth played Gino Hernandez and Chavo Guerrero Jr. played The Sheik Ed Farhat.
As a test screening, it is likely that edits will be made to the film based on the feedback. The Sean Durkin-directed film does not yet have a release date, but is expected to arrive sometime later this year.
