Rob Reiner Says This Is Spinal Tap Sequel Starts Filming In February

The long-awaited sequel to This Is Spinal Tap is set to start filming early next year. Rob Reiner, who directed, wrote and starred in the mockumentary classic, revealed on the RHLSTP with Richard Herring podcast that the follow-up film will start filming in February.
“We’re making a sequel,” Reiner said per Deadline). “We’re going to start shooting in the end of February and everybody is back.”
Reiner also noted that Paul McCartney, Elton John, Garth Brooks and more will be cameoing in the film, which will follow up on the events of the 1984 comedy film.
This Is Spinal Tap starred Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer as the members of the titular heavy metal band as they go on the American leg of their tour. The sequel has been in the works since May of 2022 with the original cast members reprising their roles.
