Scott Derrickson Expresses Interest in Working on a New Constantine Film
Doctor Strange and Sinister filmmaker Scott Derrickson responded to a fan question this week if he had any interest in directing a Justice League Dark film. Instead, Derrickson responded that he’d be interested in working on a John Constantine/Hellblazer film. You can check out his tweet below.
As previously reported, Scott Derrickson left Marvel’s Doctor Strange 2 earlier this year due to creative differences.
Warner Bros. previously released a 2005 film about the DC Comics character, titled Constantine, back in 2005. The film starred Keanu Reeves, and it altered the character as an American exorcist, which was a controversial decision. The film finished with $75 million domestic and $230 million worldwide. Reviews were poor, and the film never garnered a sequel.
A Justice League Dark film based on the more recent iteration of the team, that did feature John Constantine, has been kicked around over at Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment for a number of years, but it never materialized. Last month, it was reported that JJ Abrams’ production company, Bad Robot, became attached to “exclusively develop” film and TV ideas for Justice League Dark for Warner Bros.
I’d do Constantine
