Silent Hill Director Says He’s Working On a New Entry in the Franchise
The director of the first Silent Hill movie says that he’s working on a new entry. Christophe Gans directed the 2006 adaptation of the survival horror video game franchise, which was not a hit with critics but still grossed $100.6 million worldwide. Gans spoke with French film site Allocine and confirmed that he’s working on not only a new Silent Hill film, but an adaptation of Fatal Frame.
“I have two horror film projects with [producer] Victor Hadida,” Gans said (per Rely on Horror). “I am working on the adaptation of the video game Project Zero [aka Fatal Frame]. The film will take place in Japan. I especially don’t want to uproot the game from its Japanese haunted house setting. And we’re also working on a new Silent Hill.”
He continued, “The [Silent Hill] project will always be anchored in this atmosphere of a small American town, ravaged by Puritanism. I think it’s time to make a new one.“
Gans’ Silent Hill film was followed by Silent Hill: Revelation in 2012.
