Sony Wraps Production on Resident Evil Reboot
Sony’s Resident Evil reboot is officially in the can, as production has finished on the film. Sony announced on Monday that filming has wrapped on the film, which Johannes Roberts is directing for Sony and Constantin Film.
The film stars Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, Neal McDonough as William Birkin, and Donal Logue as Chief Irons. The film is an “origin story adaptation” of the games, set in 1998 in Racoon City.
The film will release in theaters in 2021 and will start a a new universe “inspired by storylines and characters” from the video game franchise.
