Storm Reid Joins The Suicide Squad as Daughter Of Idris Elba’s Mystery Role

The Suicide Squad is gearing up to begin production soon, and James Gunn has added another cast member in the form of Storm Reid. The Wrap reports that Reid (A Wrinkle in Time, Euphoria) will play the daughter of Idris Elba’s as-yet-unrevealed role. Elba was originally set to take on Will Smith’s role of Deadshot from the first film, but Gunn retooled the script to have Elba playing a different role.

Reid and Elba join a cast that includes Jai Courtney, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Margot Robbie, and David Dastmalchian. The plot for the film is under wraps, but will draw inspiration fromo John Ostrander’s classic run of Suicide Squad comics.

The film is set to release on August 6th, 2021 with production beginning in September.
