There Are Now Two Evil Dead Movies In Pre-Production
Deadline reports that Francis Galluppi has been hired to write and direct a new Evil Dead movie for Ghost House Pictures. Galluppi, the director of The Last Stop in Yuma County, approached Sam Raimi and his team with an original story. There’s no word on what that story is or who will produce.
This marks the second Evil Dead project in pre-production, as Sébastien Vaniček (Infested). Vanicek will co-write his own spin-off, as well as direct.
Raimi said of Galluppi: “Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence. He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut.”
Evil Dead fans went a long time without a new movie and now are seemingly getting several. The franchise began in 1981 and there have only been five total. The most recent was last year’s Evil Dead Rise, which was critically and commercially successful.
