Writer Hired For Sequel To Mile 22

While the first film hasn’t even been released yet, STX Films is already moving forward with a sequel to Mile 22. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Umair Aleem has been hired to write the untitled sequel, although plot details are being kept secret.

The first film was directed by Peter Berg and stars Mark Wahlberg, Ronda Rousey, John Malkovich and Lauren Cohan. It will be released on August 17.

Here’s a synopsis: Mile 22 follows an elite American intelligence officer who, aided by a top-secret tactical command unit, tries to smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive information out of the country.

STX sees Mile 22 as a cross-platform franchise across film, TV and VR.
