Zazie Beetz In Talks To Join Joker

Zazie Beetz isn’t done with comic book movies yet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Deadpool 2 actress is in talks to join Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Joker, an origin story for the Clown Prince of Crime. The film will be directed by Todd Phillips and stars Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker. The film is said to be “more moderately budgeted” and “darker” than the standard DC films. It’s also considered more of a character study tha na crime thriller, compared in tone to Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy. Phillips also wrote the script with Scott Silver.

Beetz, if cast, would play a single mother that the Joker is interested in. The film begins shooting this September in New York. It will be released on October 4, 2019.
