411’s Ring Ka King Report 2.19.12: Episode #8

February 22, 2012 | Posted by Jack Stevenson

In the locker room, Harbhajan Singh wishes Matt Morgan the best of luck in his title defense later night. Morgan expresses his gratitude, and assures him that he is completely focused on beating Isaiah Cash tonight.

Meanwhile, Mr. Cash is being courted by Scott Steiner, Sonjay Dutt and Brutus Magnus, who shower him with fruit and candy. However, Cash insists that he’s doing it alone tonight.

MATCH 1- PAYAL PARINDA VS JIMMY RAVE

If Koko B. Ware ever impregnated Frankie (by accident or on purpose) the result could have been Payal Parinda. He appears to be half bird, half man.

Rave and Parinda shake hands to start the match, which the crowd seems to approve of. Rave tries for a monkey flip out the corner but Parinda lands on his feet, and catches Jimmy with a cross body for a two count. He tries for the same move off the top rope, but soars right into a dropkick by Rave for two. Double P flies back with a flying head scissors and an Oklahoma Roll for two. Wheelbarrow bulldog gets the same. A moonsault from the top rope goes one better, and Payal Parinda has picked up a debut win! Too short to rate, but this was great fun while it lasted. After a shaky start with the incredibly awkward Mahabali Veera and Maxx B, the quality of the homegrown wrestlers has been very impressive. Jwala, The Bollywood Boys and now Payal Parinda would all look right at home in TNA. On the negative side, if Parinda is going to use the moonsault as a finisher, he’ll need to try and get more air and grace into it.

MATCH 2- RING KA KING CHAMPIONSHIP- MATT MORGAN VS ISAIAH CASH

Cash slugs Morgan into the corner to get things under way, but the champion fires off some shots of his own and batters the challenger with his trademark elbow barrage in the corner. He drapes Cash’s head under the bottom rope, and crashes on top of him with a leg drop on the apron. The fight continues on the floor, with Morgan careening into the ring post and getting dropped with a Cash big boot. Back in, a suplex by the former Luke Gallows is followed up with an elbow drop for two. Big splash gets the same. Matt mounts a comeback, taking Cash down with a pair of clotheslines and following up with a running body splash in the corner. Side slam gets two. Tornado clothesline also does so. Morgan charges into a boot to the face, and Cash decides to ascend to the top rope. He throws himself off… right into a Carbon Footprint! 1,2,3! Morgan successfully makes his first Ring Ka King Championship defense. ** Really enjoyable big man match here. The pace was quick throughout and the execution of the moves was pitch-perfect.

Before our main event, Harbhajan Singh comes down to the ring to present the Ring Ka King Tag Team Championships. And now… it’s time!

MATCH 3- SONJAY DUTT & SIR BRUTUS MAGNUS VS CHAVO GUERRERO & BULLDOG HART

Dutt reacts badly to a slap in the face from Chavo that starts the match off. Bulldog Hart catches Magnus with a powerslam for an early two count. He follows that up with a stalling vertical suplex, then catches his foe with a side backbreaker, allowing Chavo to follow up with a slingshot senton. Guerrero sends the Brit to the floor, but gets blindsided in the ring by Sonjay Dutt. He gets a taste of his own medicine at the hands of the Bulldog, who boots him to the floor, and Chavo drops onto both of them with a slingshot crossbody! Back in the ring, Brutus finally turns the tide for his team when he catches Chavo with a clothesline. The rule-breakers control with rudimentary offense. Dutt sweeps Guerrero’s legs from underneath him with a low dropkick for two. Chavo finally fights back with a missile dropkick to Magnus, and it’s tag to Dutt, hot tag to Bulldog Hart! Davey Boy’s son cleans house, while Chavo takes Brutus out the equation with a crossbody off the top rope. Seeing the dire situation, Scott Steiner saunters down to ringside, but Deadly Danda refuses to let him pass. Uncharacteristically, the Big Bad Booty Daddy calmly accepts the decision. Hart drops Dutt with the sit out powerbomb, and Chavo follows up with the Frog Splash to win the tag team titles! * ¼ This was disappointingly one sided and pretty dull in places, but it had a big fight feel like no other match in Ring Ka King’s short history, and sometimes that’s half the battle won.

And, to end on a cliffhanger, Scott Steiner is shown on the phone with the Boss, being informed that ‘it’ is coming.

Wall to wall wrestling this week, which is either a really good or really bad thing depending on your perspective. I enjoyed this a great deal; we got introduced to a new character, crowned new champions, and got three matches that were very watchable for a 40 minute television show. Ring Ka King continues to impress.
