411’s WWE Smackdown Report 02.01.08

We kick the show off with Teddy Long this week since Vicky Guerrero was injured at the Royal Rumble. He shows us a replay of the Edge/Rey Mysterio match to show us how Vicky ate a 619 and that is why she is injured. He is the acting General Manager until she returns. He makes a match for No Way Out, and it’s the Elimination Chamber! The winner of the match will face the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania. The particapants are Batista, Great Khali, Finlay, WWE United States Champion MVP, ECW’s Big Daddy V, and Undertaker! He then asks who the World Champion will be. He annoucnes that Edge will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Rey Mysterio at No Way Out. Edge comes out and is mad Mysterio gets a rematch for hurting Vicky. Edge demands anybody else, but Long says he is in charge and that is his final decision.

Match #1: WWE United States Champion MVP vs. Ric Flair in a Career Threatening Match (non-title)

They lock up and MVP gets a headlock followed by a shoulder block. Flair comes back and nails a hip toss. Lock up again and Flair knocks him down. MVP does however get a rollup for two. MVP gets Flair in the corner and pounds away. Flair fights back and nails his signature chops. MVP nails the Irish whip though and then a kick to the skull. MVP locks in a modified arm bar and works on the shoulder. Flair gets out but MVP gets a backslide for two. Double underhook suplex by MVP for two. MVP nails a right hand to Flair but Flair comes firing back out with rights and chops. MVP nails a big uppercut though for two. He misses the running boot. Flair comes from behind a nails a chop block. Flair kicks away at the same leg and goes for the Figure Four but MVP kicks him away. Flair tries again but MVP turns over and reverses the pressure. Flair gets to the ropes but MVP won’t break the hold and that gets a disqualification. After the match, MVP destroys the leg of Flair.

Winner: Ric Flair via disqualification
Points: Ric Flair wins via DQ (1 Point)

In the back, Flair is being taken care of my medical staff.

Chuck Palumbo comes out and talks about how he and Michelle McCool were doing great until Jamie Noble came along. He had no choice to beat the Hell out of Noble….and it felt fantastic. On a serious note, what happened to Michelle, that was an accident. He show’s the replay from last week as he snapped on Noble and Michelle got taken down in the process. The crowd boos Chuck and he tells them it is Noble’s fault. He then said it was wrong when WWE fined him $10,000. He says he wants to apologize though. He tells Michelle to come out so he can apologize. She comes out and Chuck apologizes. Michelle says she is sick of his stupid apologies. She slaps him and Chuck looks like he is going to unload on her. He tells her she messed up and it was all her fault. He says that because of that slap, he is going to hunt down Jamie Noble and make her watch. Chuck leaves the ring on his bike and Michelle is in the ring confused. Funny thing, before she came out, Michael Cole kept saying she was at home recovering. Great knowledge Coleslaw.

Match #2: ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Edge vs. CM Punk w/Rey Mysterio T-Shirt and Rey Mysterio w/CM Punk T-Shirt

Chavo and Punk start off. Punk begins working on the arm. Tag to Rey and he exchanges locks with Chavo. Arm drag by Rey followed by a drop kick to the knee. Tag to Punk and tag to Edge. Punk nails ahip toss and then a headlock takedown. Edge gets out though and tags Chavo. Punk goes for the running knee in the corner but Edge moves Chavo away and Punk nails the turnbuckle.

We’re back and Edge has a sit down bear hug applied to Punk. Punk gets out but Edge nails a flapjack for two. Tag to Chavo and he lcoks in the abdominal stretch. Punk gets out and nails a running enzaguri. Tags to Rey and Edge and Rey nails the Crossbody from the top and a leg drop. Springboard moonsault to Edge for two. Rey goes to the top but Edge nails him with a dropkick. Edge gets a huge club to the chest of Rey abd then works on him in the corner. Tag to Chavo and he goes after the sergically repaired knee. Rey fights back though and counters a sunset flip into a dropkick. Tag to Edge tough and he works on the leg. Big boot to Rey for two. Tag to Chavo but Rey gets up and takes out both men. Tag to Punk and he clotheslines Edge out of the ring and goes to town on Chavo with the knees. Springboard clothesline by Punk. Running knee to Chavo! Rey nails the 619 to Chavo and then nails a springboard cross body to Edge on the outside. Go 2 Sleep on Chavo by Punk finishes it!

Winners: CM Punk and Rey Mysterio via pin fall on Chavo Guerrero by CM Punk

Hornswoggle and Finlay are in the back and Mr. McMahon tells them both they are dissapointments after throwing away their Rumble oppertunities. Finlay says he did it for loyalty and friendship. McMahon calls Finlay stupid and walks away.

Match #3: Deuce & Domino w/Cherry vs. Finlay and Hornswoggle

Finlay and Domino start off and Finlay gets a headlock. Shoulder block and a clothesline to Domino. Finlay jumps Deuce and then he distracts Cherry so Hornswoggle can look up her dress. She then trips over Horny. Deuce jumps Finlay but Finlay takes him out. Finlay nails the Celtic Cross to Domino, tags Horny, and he gets the Tadpole Splash for the win.

In thering, Eve intoduces Batista. She asks him his thoughts on the Elimination Chamber. He welcomes her to Smackdown and then he talks about last week’s guarantee about winning the Royal Rumble. He didn’t win, but he has a second chance to headline WrestleMania. He’s been in the Chamber before, and is the only man in the Chamber Match with experience. He is going to No Way Out and he is walking out the #1 Contender!

We’re back with Jesse. He says that Festus is a brand new man. He also feels better than ever and both of them will be back next week!

Match #4: Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder vs. Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore

Yang and Hawkins start. Hawkins nails an arm drag but Yang fires back with a heel kick to the back of the head. Tag to Moore and he nails a dropkick. Tag to Ryder and Yang. Moore suplexes Ryder and Yang nails a senton for two. Blind tag to Hawkins and he clubs Yang from behind. Tag to Ryder and he locks in a headlock. Yang nails a back body drop but Ryder gets a tag to Hawkins and he drops the knee. He slams him down andtags in Ryder. Neckbreaker to the redneck for two. Ryder goes to the top and lands on top of Yang. Tag to Hawkins and he nails a clothesline. Tag to Ryder but Yang nails an atomic drop. Tag to Moore and he nails dropkciks and a Hurricanrana after Hawkins was tagged in. Moore misses the Corkscrew Moonsault. Hawkins nails a reverese DDT slam for the win.

Big Daddy V and Mark Henry w/Matt Striker vs. Kane and Undertaker

We join the match in progress after a commercial and Kane is pounding away on Henry. Henry fights back but Kane jumps on top of Henry. Kane nails a kick and tags Undertaker. He strikes away on Henry. Takers goes for Old School but Stiker distracts him. Henry takes Taker down but gets met with a Big Boot. Tag to Kane and he hammers away on Henry until Henry nails a splash. Tag to Daddy and he splashes Kane in the corner. Kane fights back with strikes and tags Taker. He pounds away on Daddy in the corner. Daddy nails a clothesline and tags Henry. He takes out Taker in the corner but Taker nails a big boot. Tag to Kane and he gets some strikes and the flying clothesline. Striker distracts Kane and Henry squashes him. Kane rools out of ring and Daddy goes after him. Taker goes after Daddy and Henry bounces Kane’s head off the announce table. All men in the ring and tag to Daddy. He pounds away on Kane and nails a splash. Tag to Henry and he locks in the bearhug. Kane gets to the ropes and nails a big boot folowed by a flying clothesline. Tag to Taker and he unloads on Henry. Running splashes to Henry followed by Old School! He takes out Daddy and nails a swinging DDT to Henry for two. Daddy goes in the ring and gets the double chokeslam from the Brothers! Taker measures Henry and nails the Chokeslam! Taker locks in the Modified Triangle Choke and Henry taps.
